The time has come to do what we have not been wanting to do. Combine the kids rooms. Fingers crossed it goes well, sleep still happens, and it isn’t a bunkbed party all night long. We would love to have them in their separate rooms because Greyson is an early riser but with baby # 3 on the way we gotta do what we gotta do. So take a dive into todays post and see what I have planned for the kids new shared bedroom. In the weeks to come I’ll be sharing just how we made it happen from budget, to organization, decluttering toys and what small pieces I purchased to make it all come together.

The Big Idea For Their Room

Overall theme is going to be earthy, warm, and playable. A place where the kids can go to play with their toys and have their own space if they want it.

Toys

Since the kids have their own rooms now I will have to be doing a lot of downsizing, combining, and decluttering both of their rooms. We already have a select toy collection that has come from thrifting and birthdays but I want to expand our lose parts, small world play, and general wooden toy collection. The kids love to create and

Organization

The room the kids will be sharing is a little small so my goal is to make the most of the space. I’d love for them to have a cute side by side bed set up but we just do not have the room so instead we will be using bunk beds, adding more shelves to the closet for clothing and creating a long toy shelving unit with cube shelves along the right wall to organize everything. Hooks will be for hanging dress up, play scarves, and under the bed totes will be for anything extra.

Combing Their Interests

Greyson loves music, ACDC in particular and the colour yellow. Emberly is a wild child who goes with the flow but loves the colour pink, being a mom to her babies, and dressing up. I am hoping to incorporate their favorite colours in their bedding with patterned sheets, neutral duvets and accent pillows. The wall art will be a mix of posters of their choice, personal art, and wall hangings.
