The guessing, wishing and betting is over. The big secret of what baby Cole will be is finally out! That’s right. Over the weekend we had a wonderful gender reveal party alongside our friends and family. I thought since everyone else knows the big news it was only fair that I tell all of you too! This is a secret I know I wouldn’t be able to keep and wouldn’t want to keep from you either! Before I let you all in on the secret though I should tell you how the party almost had to be canceled. Talk about gender reveal party fail. Well almost! But don’t worry it wasn’t, you will hear me gush all about the wonderful party and what’s happening next!

|| Story Time ||

It was a Wednesday and Jeremy and I went to my monthly doctors’ appointment as usual. We were extra excited about this one because it was the one where we could find out what we were having. Everything went well, my papers were transferred smoothly, my belly and weight measured just right and baby cole’s heartbeat topped in the 150’s again. All I could think was “I wonder what our little baby will be?”. However, that was a question that my doctor couldn’t answer because apparently the sex was not written down. So there I stood beside the truck with Jeremy by my side, clueless of what to do! I had already sent out the invitations, bought decorations and starting planning blog posts! He stopped me and said “No! We are going back in there, they can check again! We have to know!” So we marched back into the office me with my tail between my legs and asked the receptionist to double check. And to our surprise, it was there. We told her our plan, she smiled and wrote it down, put it in an envelope and made sure we couldn’t see through it! She even passed it along to the other two receptionists just to make sure. The party was still a go and I was so so so happy!!

|| The Party ||

Oh, the party and the big reveal! Where do I even start? It went better than I could have ever imagined. The day before the party it was pouring rain all day and I was worried that the weather forecast of 26 degrees and sunny, sunny, sunny would be wrong. But that Saturday morning I woke up to sunshine, blue sky, and a few grey clouds than by noon it was nothing but beautiful, hot, sunshine! I was so relieved!! There was no way I was cramming 50 guests into the house, that’s for sure! The night and days before the party were filled with planning and prepping after work. I wanted it to be all pink and blue from drinks to dessert. And thank you to Cut Party Supplies a small Etsy shop from Kamloops the party was made perfect with the little details they allowed me to add.

The day of the party I woke up super early and by super early I mean 4:30 in the morning! I know, way too early for any normal person but due to having to use the bathroom and being overly excited I just couldn’t fall back asleep. I did try though, the baby just didn’t want me too or at least that’s what it felt like. So instead I laid there daydreaming and running through my head everything that had to be done before! Go for breakfast with my bestie, give her the envelope, fill up the balloons, pick up the buns, decorate the cakes, decorate and the list went on. But it all went smoothly! Breakfast was amazing and my mother picked the buns, but when it came to the balloon the writing on it was upside down! At first, I was like omg really, you have to be kidding me but I knew I couldn’t let it bother me and her and I laughed about it. The important thing was keeping it from popping on the ride home!

The trip back to the house was a success and the balloon survived! Thank goodness! Once we were back it was crunch time. We decorated both the cakes, set everything up and began decorating! Everything was coming together just how I imagined it would. It was loads of fun and to be honest I would do it again in a heartbeat. By the time everyone arrived the appetizers were out, people were taking, drinks were being poured and everyone was having a good time!

|| The Reveal ||

After dinner, it was time for the big reveal! Everyone was so excited and the guesses about the weather it was going to be a boy or girl were about fifty-fifty. I thought it was going to be a girl. Everything was pointing to a girl, all the old wives tales I mean. The ring test swung in a circle, GIRL! The heartbeat was always in the high 150’s, GIRL! The Chinese calendar, GIRL! The list goes on!! Jeremy on the other hand though it was going to be a boy. His reasoning was because of the way my belly was sitting. According to him, my belly was low and he read the old wives tale that says low bellies mean, BOY.

When it was time to pop the balloon everyone gathered around with cameras ready to get the best shot of the reveal. I was so excited to finally find out what little one I am carrying that I didn’t even notice all the people staring at us. There we stood, both smiling like crazy. I had the pin in hand ready to pop the balloon! Everyone started to count FIVE… FOUR… THREE… TWO… ONE… POP!

We finally know what little baby Cole will be. WE ARE HAVING A BABY BOY!! Jeremy and I could not be happier!! We have a name tentatively picked, the nursery is next on my list and same with some shopping! Our little boy needs some clothing, toys, and a tool belt according to Jeremy. I am so thankful for everyone who came to the gender reveal from family to friends. Thank you all for supporting us!
