Our First Adventure of the Summer
It was the last day of school, the bell rung and out he ran for a hug, lunch kit in hand and yellow pack back busting with papers, pencils, and markers galore. School was our for the summer and our first order of business pack for the long weekend adventure ahead of us.
Last year we traveled to Stewart B.C to celebrate the long weekend with family. Stewart is known for their Canada day celebrations, days filled with fun for child to adults and this year did not disappoint. They children got to paint a real police truck a mix of fun colors, paint a follow along picture, pancake breakfast, rubber ducky race, and of course enjoy the historic buildings and beath taking nature.
The town is quiet, quaint if you will, but the hum of tourists can be heard and seen throughout the weekend. The short and sweet main street is moviesque with its historic Ripley Hotel and the town center boasts an awe shocking Estuary. The mountains soar on either side, capped with snowmelt water falls. The birds song like a symphony as they dip and drive at each other and through the pines. Wild flower speckled around in brilliant hues of butter cup yellow, pastel pink, and forget-me-not blue. The whole town is like a breathe of fresh air.
Although the whole town is like breathe of fresh air camping with 3 is a whirl wind. The days that go by quick end in a blink but then there are those days that having you say “really it is only 10 am” those ones make you want to pack up and go home. But we try to remember that it too will pass.
