Just one year ago I was tossing around the idea of starting my own blog without a clue of where to start! I was stuck in a rut after moving from my small hometown to the city and I wanted a way to get outside my comfort zone and break out of my shy shell. And so after weeks of research, I decided to tell a few people about my plan to start a blog. I wanted to be sure it was something that people would read and be interested in.

The first person I told was my boyfriend. He was beyond supportive and told me that if it was something I wanted to do then I should go for it! Next, I told my best friend and her response is one I will never forget. She told me that starting a blog was something she could totally see me doing and was surprised I hadn’t done it sooner! So with all the wonderful feedback I took a leap into the blogging world and turned a small dream of mine into a reality! And I haven’t looked back. So in light of Entirely Taylor turning one I am sharing with you Five of the biggest things I have learned over the past year.

|| What I’ve Learned & What You Have Taught Me ||

| One | Be Patient

Ah, this was a big thing to learn as a new blogger entering into the huge world of blogs. There are so many out there and as a new blogger, it feels like everyone else seems so successful without even trying. But I remind myself that one day they were just as small as my blog. It takes patience to get an audience it doesn’t happen overnight.

| Two | Do Not Compare Yourself To Others

Staring at that blog that has 100 or 200 thousand followers and wishing you could be like them is not going to make your blog better! Remember to be true to yourself and strive to find your own voice. This is what is going to make your blog grow hun! Your followers want to hear your voice, see your photos and connect with you, not a fake version of you.

| Three | Even The Smalled Achievement Counts

Every achievement counts no matter how big, no matter how small! And with that being said, remember to celebrate them too. Show your followers how happy you are that they are tuning in and listening to what you want them to hear. They will be just as happy and excited as you are about the goals you reaching! So if you made it to 100, 200, 300, or 1000 followers be sure to shout it out loud because every milestone counts.

| Four | Not Everyone Will Become A Reader

If one day you top 200 readers and the next day your audience seems to disappear completely, do not let it get you down. Remember, not everyone will read every post and even the best bloggers have slow days. Use these days as a tool to see how and what you can improve on!

| Five | Consistency Is Key

The biggest stepping stone in the blogging world that you can take is learning how to be consistent! I know the saying is so cliche but it could not be truer. That is why I am saying it! Consistency is KEY!! As a growing blog, it is very easy to be hidden by the big ones, but not if you keep your voice out there and alive. The best way to conquer consistency is to make a monthly or weekly blog plan and stick to it the best you can! I know it is hard, life gets in the way for me too sometimes!

I had to stop it at five because I know that if I kept going the crickets would start chirping and you would start yawning! But I hope these five little learning curves I endured over the year have been helpful to you if you plan on starting your own blog. Or, if you are just reading to learn more about me than I hope you see how much I love what I am doing and how much all you mean to me!!

I’ll be honest, it hasn’t always been the easiest! The past year has been filled with ups and downs and lots of learning, including everything from blogger lingo to photography and so much more. Oh and don’t let me forget lots of writer’s block! But I will not let all that stop me!

Looking back on it now I am so happy that I pushed through every curve because Entirely Taylor has become something that I can call my own! Something that I made, work hard on and grows as I learn more about the blogging world and myself. It is something that I love doing and I know I will continue to love each and every year that is to come.

So thank you all my lovely readers for tuning in and allowing me to share what I have learned in the past year and what you have taught me. I could not have done with without all of you stopping by to see just what is going on in my life. Don’t be afraid to sign up for my newsletter so you never miss a post or follow me along on my social sites below! Until next time my lovelies, keep smiling!!

  4. As a newbie to the blogging world, this is. Good reminder to enjoy the small achievements, like 100 likes instead of being down about not having 1,000 yet.
